UPDATE: USL Acts Swiftly, Suspends Riverhounds' Parkes Indefinitely

UPDATE (12:34 a.m., May 8, 2016): The USL acted swiftly tonight, suspending Pittsburgh Riverhounds forward Romeo Parkes indefinitely for his actions late in Saturday’s match at Highmark Stadium.

In addition, Parkes issued an apology on Twitter.

Posted 10:05 p.m. May, 7, 2016:
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds lost to the New York Red Bulls II, 3-1 on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium in a game that was marred by an ugly incident late in the second half when Hounds forward Romeo Parkes was given a red card, then as he was being sent off the field, inexplicably kicked Red Bulls II’s Karl Ouimette from behind.
Parkes had to be restrained and escorted off the field by his teammates, as Ouimette lay on the field for nearly eight minutes, until he was carted off on a stretcher.

“It was very embarrassing.” said Mark Steffens, Riverhounds Head Coach.
“I would anticipate that there will be action taken by the USL, and we will be taking action as well.”
“This was way out of left field for him (Parkes).   We didn’t see this coming at all.  He’s been a quality player for us. Obviously we’re very disappointed in this behavior.”
As the game concluded, the Hounds could not mount a comeback after giving up two second half goals in what was an evenly played match that had a very ugly ending.

I’ll be adding more coverage of this game later tonight/Sunday morning with PGHvNYRBII Takeaways — as the Hounds (0-3-3, 3 pts) have now dropped all their home games this season.
