Former Robert Morris (and Fort Pitt Regiment) forward — and Portland Timbers 2016 SuperDraft pick Neco Brett has had a terrific start to his pro career
Bret has been the catalyst to the Timbers’ USL team’s attack — scoring four goals and an assist in 12 games played. In addition, he’s also found some playing time for the defending Major League Soccer champs, making his MLS debut in a 4-2 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on May 22,
This week Bret was named to the USL Team of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist in T2’s 2-1 win against Swope Park Rangers on June 4 at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho.
Brett’s USL Team of the Week recognition marks his second of the 2016 campaign (Week 7).
Brett, the Timbers 40th overall selection in this year’s MLS SuperDraft, scored his fourth goal in the last five matches in the 27th minute after driving his free kick strike through the Swope Park wall and into the upper side netting to build a 1-0 lead for Portland.
In the second half, Bret notched his first assist of the season for T2, releasing forward Victor Arboleda from the midfield for the Colombian’s second-career goal for Portland.
