Philadelphia, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2016) – The Penn Quakers scored three times in the opening 8:38 to quickly race ahead and defeat the Robert Morris University women’s soccer team, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Rhodes Field in Philadelphia, Pa. The Colonials remain winless at 0-5 this season while the Quakers even their season mark at 1-1.
Emma Loving put Penn on the board at the 5:18 mark of the opening half. Paige Lombard made it 2-0 just 98 seconds later before Loving struck again just 3:20 after her first score.
Emily Sands tallied her first of the season in the 23rd minute of action and Erica High rounded out the scoring in the 53rd minute.
Penn held the advantage in shots, 21-4, and RMU starting keeper Makenzie Shearson made nine saves. Kitty Qu was credited with two stops to earn the clean sheet.
Robert Morris finishes off its four-match road swing Thursday, Sept. 8, at Akron. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
