On Tuesday, DK Pittsburgh Sports and Pittsburgh Soccer Report exclusively confirmed that Riverhounds goalkeeper Trey Mitchell had suffered a shoulder dislocation in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Saint Louis FC, while making a dramatic penalty kick save to deny Saint Louis FC’s Milan Petosevic.
Today, the Hounds made it official that Mitchell will be out for the season.
“We’re really sorry both for the team and for Trey personally,” head coach Dave Brandt said. “He’s had an excellent year in goal for us, and while we’re sorry his season needs to end early, we realize at this point that he needs to get the problem in his shoulder fixed and begin to prepare for next season right away.”
It was the second time this season Mitchell has dislocated his shoulder.
