8:20 – all these corners coming for Hounds, but have to hand it to LouCity — they’re defending the box pretty well

8:17 – Lancaster picks up yellow card hard foul. Hounds with free kick opp… but off side after play it around. Stuff there that will Bob Lilley will pick nits

8:12 – Lee gets in left side of box — fires a ball through the goal box but no one is there.

8:10 – Forbes doing some dirty work there — getting ball out of tight space on side line. He’s a magician.

7;52 – HALF

Hounds dominate possession, chances, but LouCity comes up with the big plays: a spectacular goal by Lancaster and dazzling saves by Ranjitsingh

7:50 – Forbes now whips one in to center of box — Parkes goes up to head it — and misses it. That is all. 44′

7:47 – Corners number five and six for Hounds set up by Forbes cut back in box. Neither connect as well defended by LouCityFC.

7;42 – Hounds with great counter chance. Parkes whips it in — point blank header by Brett stopped cold by Ranjitsingh. Then Brett’s rebound chance was stopped too. LouCity with some fantastic goalkeeping!

Cameron Lancaster stuns the Hounds! Wow! turnaround — and left footed finish with Tobi Adewole hanging all over his back! 32′

7:28 – third corner attempt for Hounds wasted as short ball in played back and then Vancaeyezeele pass goes through untouched
20′

Forbes pounces on LouCity bad pass — sets up Brett beautifully with nice diagonal ball thru. Brett takes touch wide to get around keeper, but wide angle shot is saved by Lou defender.

7:14 – First corner for Hounds. Header in middle of box for Greenspan. Misses left. Served in by Zemanski. 9′

Also, for second straight game, we’re seeing Hounds in 3-1-4-2. Greenspan anchoring back line. Dabo the sole holding mid. Zemanski and Forbes central attacking mids. Parkes and Brett are up top

7:09 – Hounds wearing black tops with white shorts and black socks. A new combination for sure.

7:08 – Thirty seconds in, and Romeo Parkes instantly with a chance but Gregory Ranjitsingh there with the save.

KEY STORYLINES

• A potential six-point swing is at stake for both sides in the second and final meeting during the regular season. The Hounds previously prevailed at Slugger Field in June with a 1-0 victory. Pittsburgh is 2-5-2 all-time against its purple counterparts, including having never defeated Lou City at home in five tries (0-4-1).

• After a month on the injury list, the Hounds appear to be getting goalkeeper Dan Lynd back to the roster. Mike Kirk has started the past five matches in Lynd’s absence. We’ll see if Hounds coach Bob Lilley opts to start Lynd in this match.

• Saturday’s match brings with it considerable stakes in the Eastern Conference, as only two points separate the second-place Hounds (49 points) from fourth-place Louisville (47 points). For Pittsburgh, a finish in the top-four alone would be massive. Despite having made the playoffs three times since the modern era of USL play began in 2011, the Hounds have never hosted a playoff match at Highmark Stadium.

• Also vying for a season sweep in head-to-head competition for the first time in club history, the Hounds will hope their recent hot play of late at home – five games unbeaten (3-0-2) – will translate to a positive result at Highmark Stadium. The proposition will be a difficult one though, as in addition to the aforementioned winless streak at home to the visitors, Lou City is unbeaten in its past four on the road, totaling 18 goals scored (4-0-0).

MORE ON LOUISVILLE CITY FC

Louisville has been up and down of late — but have mostly kept pace with the Hounds and are now in position to jump into second place with a win at a place they’ve never lost — Highmark Stadium.

This will be the first match between the teams with Louisville’s new coach, John Hackworth matching wits with Hounds coach Bob Lilley. Hackworth took over for James O’Connor who was hired by Orlando City FC at midseason.

RIVERHOUNDS RABBI SCOUTING REPORT – Louisville are good, but may not be deep

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Both coaches realize that this will be a challenging match.

“I’m expecting to go there and have a team that has proven this season to be very tough, especially at home on that field. We have a huge challenge in front of us. Not only to be on the road but our opponent is well-coached, they are organized, they know exactly how they want to play and they know how to take advantage of their opponents,” John Hackworth, Louisville City’s Head Coach said.

“I don’t think it’s a huge secret, their (Riverhounds) style and what they’re trying to do. I do think it’s unique that they show some different looks and they press in different ways dependent on who they are playing. We’ll have to make sure that we deal with everything they throw at us and for sure we’re going to have to make some adjustments in game to take advantage of that.”
