Girls Co-Players of the Week

Paige Marshalek and Jocelyn Timlin

Bentworth

Both Juniors, Marshalek and Timlin have been tearing up the record books at Bentworth, reaching some significant milestones in the past week.

Marshalek is now the school’s all-time assist leader, with 60 while Timlin now holds the goal scoring mark with 75. Marshslek is right behind her teammate, with 60 career goals as well. With Timlin scoring 16 and Marshalek 12 goals apiece, Bentworth is off to an impressive 5-1 start overall, and 3-0 in Class 1A section 2.

 Boys Player of the Week

Ryan Vargo

Keystone Oaks

Vargo is a Junior and starting midfielder for Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles. Off to a great start to the season with two multiple goal games including a hat-trick on September 11 vs. McGuffey in only 28 minutes played.

Ryan also had two tallies in a match vs. South Allegheny on September 5, plus a goal vs. East Allegheny on September 13. In addition to his six goals in six games, he also has several assists.

KO is 6-0 on the season and sitting in first place in Section 1 AA.

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
