Final coming in from Upper St. Clair — USC’s Landy Mertz gets the game-winner in OT. The Panthers knock off Pine-Richland, 4-3 to advance to the WPIAL 4A Girls semifinal. Will face Seneca Valley on Saturday.

10:30 – Upper St. Clair and Pine-Richland are going to OT. Yes — it’s 10:30 p.m.

10:15 – Last game of night still hasn’t gone final — Upper St. Clair takes lead over Pine-Richland.  Lady Panthers goal by Nikki Gibbons assist by Landy Mertz 3-2.

9:45 – From Ed R.Big save by Waszkiewicz from NA’s Adams cross. 1 min left

9:41 – From Ed R. at Norwin:  NA’s Emma Bundy comes up with a timely goal of a free kick 34 yds out to make it 2-1 Norwin under 10 minutes left to play

70th minute – Norwin leads NA, 2-1

8:59 – From Ed Thompson at Hopewell:  Three very quick goals in the second half have it 3-1 Hopewell over Burrell, 33:28 to play

8:45 – From Ed Rosensteel at Norwin:  NA’s Schupansky puts the rebound into the back of the net but the goal is disallowed as the 1st half expires. Boo birds come out from the NA section.

8:29 – From Ed Rosensteel at Norwin:  NA defender miss plays a ball that finds its way to Norwin’s Lacey Bernick and she takes a touch and puts it past Vukas’ left hand for Norwin goal and a 1-0 lead.

Norwin leads North Allegheny, 1-0.

7:45 pm – Oakland Catholic girls soccer takes WPIAL quarterfinal win tonight 3-0 vs Kiski at Norwin HS. All 3 OC goals by Hannah Henn. 10th clean sheet of year for Maggie Storti.

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
