THE MATCHUP

Pitt (4-11-1, 0-9-0 ACC) concludes its season in Newton, Mass., taking on No. 19 Boston College Thursday night under the lights. The Panthers are coming off of a 2-0 loss over Notre Dame on Senior Day as Pitt wrapped up the home portion of the 2018 season.

On the year, Anna Rico leads the offense with three goals, followed by Aideen O’DonoghueAshley Moreira and Madeline Gravante who have each netted two apiece. Pitt has tallied 11 goals on the season as six different Panthers have found the back of the net.

Freshman Katherine Robinson made her sixth start of the season Sunday against Notre Dame, marking the eighth game of the season in which she’s appeared. On the year she’s tallied 34 saves. Redshirt sophomore Amaia Pena has started 10 contests on the year, tallying nearly 1,000 minutes in her 13 games. She has registered 59 saves and owns a .692 save percentage.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE

Boston College (13-3-1, 5-3-1 ACC) is coming off a tough 2-1 loss in Durham, N.C. to a then 10th-ranked Blue Devils team. The Eagles are on a two game skid, having dropped a close 1-0 decision to No. 3 North Carolina just days before.

The Eagles are outscoring opponents 36-11 on the season, as nine different players have found the back of the net at least once. The high scoring offense is led by Sam Coffey, who has a team-best 10 goals on the year, adding 12 assists. Oliva Vaughn (9) and Gianna Mitchell (5) have also significantly contributed to the Eagles’ goal scoring prowess.

Alexis Bryant has made the start in all 17 games for the Eagles in net, racking up 1,512 minutes of action. She’s recorded 49 saves on the year and owns a .817 save percentage and a miniscule 0.65 goals against average.

THE SERIES WITH BOSTON COLLEGE

This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two squads in a series that dates back to the 1997 campaign. The Eagles own a 10-0-0 all-time mark, including a record of 4-0-0 at Boston College.

The two teams took it down to the wire in their last meeting as the Eagles grabbed a 3-2 victory in double overtime in Pittsburgh in 2017.

FRESHMEN FOOTING THE LOAD

First year players have made quite the impact for the Panthers in 2018, as the freshmen have tallied six of the team’s 11 goals this year. A pair of freshmen in Anna Rico (3) and Madeline Gravante (2) are two of only four Panthers to have tallied multiple goals on the season.

The Panthers check in at No. 174 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. The Panthers remaining game pits them against Boston College, who checks in at No. 19.
