Welcome to Pittsburgh Soccer Report!

Welcome to the kickoff edition of the Pittsburgh Soccer Report.

Since this is my first, “official” post, I will be starting things off by sharing some of my recent coverage of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.   With less than two weeks from the beginning of their 2015 campaign in United Soccer League (USL) — the Hounds are facing a season of transition.  With new management, a new head coach and adding lot of new, young players eager to make their mark here in Pittsburgh — it will be fun to chronicle how things shake out at Highmark Stadium this year.
It was a tough start to the preseason for the Riverhounds — who had to postpone a few of their early scrimmages with College teams due to snow and very cold weather.
But as the preseason has moved forward, they have been able to play four matches  thus far, posting wins in the first three, and settling for a 1-1 draw against the Akron Zips on Sunday.   I will be posting more on the preseason along with some of the latest updates and player news in upcoming posts.
However, I thought I would set the stage of this blog by posting the three-part series I completed in late February in Pittsburgh Sports Report, taking an in-depth look at forecasting the 2015 Riverhounds season.

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
