WPIAL BOYS SOCCER QUARTERFINALS RESULTS

I was at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills on Thursday night to see a pair of Class AAA-Section 3 teams move into the semifinals.
Kiski Area continues its Cinderella run through the playoffs by beating Allderdice tonight.  The Cavs dominated for long stretches to frustrate the Dragons attack.  Kiski will be joined in the semifinals by section 3 rivals Fox Chapel, and on the other side of the Class AAA bracket Top seeded Seneca Valley rolled past Central Catholic, 3-0, while Canon McMillian edged Penn Trafford.
A first half goal by Jong Hong was enough for Fox Chapel, as they held off a few dangerous Panthers scoring chances late in the game to avenge their only loss this season.  The biggest play came in the closing minutes when Foxes goalkeeper Jakob Dunn extended himself to make a dazzling save to punchout a redirected header that was heading into goal.
In the game recap in the Trib, Fox Chapel Head Coach Erik Ingram didn’t hold back any comments after the game.

“I will say that this was a special win because I think that tonight’s game was played between two teams that should’ve been playing in the finals. Franklin Regional is as good as anybody in the WPIAL tournament,” Ingram said.
“I think you can see from the other playoff results that the idea that our section is weak is not accurate, and that the seedings that certain people love to play games with is a bunch of crap. I feel for Franklin Regional. Tonight was a war, and it should’ve been played in the WPIAL finals and not the quarterfinals.”

Here’s the complete Pittsburgh Tribune-Review roundup of all of the quarterfinal games.
Below are the complete scores and Monday’s semifinal match-ups as the remaining teams will battle to earn a spot in the WPIAL Finals at Highmark Stadium next weekend.
