UPDATE
Seton LaSalle Wins it — in first OT period…

The Rebels capture their first WPIAL title since 2011, and their fifth in their history.
While it was a tough game to watch at times, as both teams really seemed to throttle each other’s attack, the game was decided on a highlight reel goal by Rebels senior Brendon Benedetti.
It’s now 2:42 p.m. Girls AA Final starts (after the first two games go to overtime periods) — South Park and Mars are ready to go.

UPDATE  3:11 p.m.
GOOOOAAAALLLLLLL – Mars’ Tori Kopchak nails it from near the top of the box to give the Planets the 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
Yes folks — that’s the first goal in regulation today after 200++ minutes!

UPDATE  3:47 p.m.
The second half starts with a pair of goals.   Mars takes 2-goal lead after Dillon Wright is fouled in the box — and Shannon Doyle buries th PK in the 42nd minute.
But South Park answers immediately.

What a nice play by Carly Pcholinsky to cut back a pass from the end line — to send cross into the goal box where Abbie Petrosky scores the goal in the 44th minute.
UPDATE:  4:25 p.m.
Mars wins the Girls AA title — hanging on to the 2-1 lead.  South Park seemed to lose some bite in their attack when they lost Jordyn Minda due to an apparent head injury.  She was not able to return.

It’s the 4th WPIAL title in six years for Mars.
UPDATE:   4:48 p.m.
Thanks to the previous game ending in regulation — we remain about 45+ minutes behind schedule.  Not bad.
South Fayette and Mars boys will cap the six-game high school soccer feast here at Highmark Stadium — as Mars looks to get the Boys-Girls double.
Here’s the live feed for the Boys AA Final…
