Hertzog

Corey Hertzog, former NY Red Bull, will join the Riverhounds this season after playing with Tampa Bay Rowdies last season.

The Riverhounds are rolling out the announcements of their new signings this week.
Today they’ve announced they’ve added a pair of experienced forwards, Corey Hertzog and Zak Boggs who played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies last season.
Hertzog led the NCAA Division I in goals during his junior year at Penn State University before joining the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer’s 2011 SuperDraft.
The 25-year-old from Reading, Pa. scored nine goals for the Wilmington Hammerheads during a loan spell in 2012 and Orlando City in 2014 where he scored four goals for the Lions in their final season in USL.
He spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the North American Soccer League where he scored eight goals.
Hertzog made a substitute appearance for Tampa during the Hounds’ 1-0 win over the Floridians in last year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third round clash at Highmark Stadium.
Boggs, 29, played three seasons with the New England Revolution after graduating from the University of South Florida.
He played under Riverhounds head coach Mark Steffens at the Charlotte Eagles during the 2014 season.  He had 10 appearances for the Rowdies last season and didn’t score any goals.
Boggs is a Vienna, West Virginia native who was nominated as a Rhodes scholar, a very prestigious academic scholarship.  He was the 2011 MLS Humanitarian of the year.  Boggs completed a MS degree in marketing from the University of South Florida in 2010. In 2012, Boggs received a Fulbright Scholarship to study cancer cell and molecular biology at the University of Leicester in Leicester, UK.
