For the third time in the three years the Pittsburgh Riverhounds U-23 team will have a new coach.
James McCaig will lead the club’s Under-23 team during this year’s USL Premier Development League season.
McCaig joined the Riverhounds Development Academy’s coaching staff in January. The native of Welwyn Garden City in England spent three years coaching within Arsenal F.C.’s youth development structure before moving to the United States in 2011.
He holds a UEFA “B” coaching license in addition to the NSCAA Premier Diploma and English F.A. badges. McCaig’s recent coaching experience includes stints at Concordia University Chicago and Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina.
The Hounds return to the PDL Central Conference’s Great Lakes Division alongside strong competition from defending champion K-W United and 2014 winners the Michigan Bucks.
Michigan provides a stern opening test for the young Hounds when the season commences May 25 at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
K-W United travels to Pittsburgh four days later for a Sunday afternoon meeting at 2 p.m.
