Niagara University, N.Y. (Aug. 26, 2016) – The Robert Morris University women’s soccer team lost its first road match of the season, 1-0, at Niagara University Friday night. The loss drops the Colonials mark to 0-3 on the season while Niagara evens its season record at 1-1-1.
The Purple Eagles got the game’s only score in the 30th minute when Laura Ortiz sent a volley past RMU keeper Makenzie Shearson. The goal stood up as Purple Eagles keeper Shania van Nuland turned aside two shots for the clean sheet.
Erin Ritzer registered five of the Colonials seven shots on the night. Shearson played all 90 minutes finishing with five saves for RMU.
Robert Morris continues a four-game road trip at Canisius Sunday, Aug. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
