With a result that had to be encouraging if anything, Pitt men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to ACC opponent No. 2 ranked team in the Nation — North Carolina Friday night at Fetzer Field.
With the loss, Jay Vidovich’s Panthers’ fall to 1-4-1 and 0-2-0 in conference play, while the nationally-ranked Tar Heels improve to 5-1-0 and 2-0-0 in the ACC.
North Carolina finished the match with an 11-3 advantage in shots, with six on goal.
Although allowing one goal, redshirt freshman Mikal Outcalt made five saves through the 90 minutes, totaling 26 on the season.
The Tar Heels’ lone goal came in the 37th minute as Cam Lindley took the free kick, passing it to Tucker Hume who then sent it to Walker Hume. In traffic, Hume sent the ball past Outcalt in the lower right corner from 18 yards out.
