With the fifth consecutive shutout, Duquesne ties a program record that was set in Oct. 6 – Oct. 15, 2000.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first half, with DU’s best chance coming in the 33rdminute when Jallah Acqui’s shot in the crease from a pass by Chris Alescio went high. The Dukes nearly found the back of the net in the 39th minute when Acqui’s shot was stopped by Buffalo keeper Joseph Kuta.
Duquesne outshot the Bulls 6-3 in the first half, with Buffalo’s lone shot on goal occurring in the 34th minute from a Daniel Cramarossa free kick, which was stopped by Kozlowski.
The Dukes went on to outshoot the Bulls in the second half 6-2. Ryan Landry nearly capitalized in the 58th minute, however his attempt was deflected by Kuta, keeping the game scoreless. ABryan Fegley shot in the 61st minute was another close scoring opportunity for the Dukes, however Kuta turned it aside.
The final attempt for either team in regulation occurred in the 83rd minute when Buffalo’s Russell Cicerone connected on a cross from Steven Stryker, which he headed wide of the goal.
Acqui’s shot in the 91st minute stood as Duquesne’s only scoring attempt for the first overtime period, but his shot went wide, bringing the game into double overtime.
Alescio and Fegley each recorded shots for Duquesne in the second overtime period, but the game would end in a 0-0 draw.
In total, Duquesne outshot Buffalo 15-6, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Tonight was a hard-fought battle against a good team and I felt that we lacked a little bit of that killer instinct in the final third that may have been able to put us over the top,” said Chase Brooks.
“All in all, it was a good non-conference portion for our guys and we need to realize we’re back at square one now, everyone has an even record, and we have to get after it in conference play.”

UP NEXT: The Dukes head to Olean, N.Y. to open Atlantic 10 Conference play against St. Bonaventure Wednesday at 7 p.m. Duquesne leads the all-time series versus the Bonnies 13-6-3, going 4-0 in their last four games. The Dukes will then return home to host George Washington on Saturday at 7 p.m.
