To say that Corey Hertzog was a work horse for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2016 would be an understatement.

The veteran forward from Reading, PA, and former Penn State standout was named to the USL All-League Second Team, announced by the League earlier Tuesday.

Hertzog earns the honor after a stellar 2016 campaign saw him lead the club in games played, minutes, goals, assists, points, shots and shots on goal.

Here’s a look at a few of Hertzog’s goals this year…

The Hounds forward tallied 13 goals in 30 games played, finishing sixth in the race for the USL’s Golden Boot.

Hertzog became only the eighth player in club history to record 10 or more goals in a single season, while his goals scored were also tied for the second most by a Hounds player since 2013 – Rob Vincent (18 | 2015), Jose Angulo (13 | 2013).

Joining the Hounds this past season after a stint in the NASL with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Hertzog’s 2,500 minutes played, 30 total points, four assists, 62 shots, and 35 shots on goal were all team highs – of note: Captain Kevin Kerr also had four assists for the club this season – and he finished the season fifth in league scoring.

The end of the year accolade is the second time Hertzog has been named All-League, also earning the First Team recognition in 2012 as a member of Wilmington Hammerheads FC.
He is the eighth Hounds player to be named All-League since the USL began handing out the honor in 2010.
