Season Ends for @DuqMSoccer in #A10 With 4-0 Playoff Loss to Fordham

Eric Ohlendorf posted a hat trick in a 16-minute span of the second half as second-seed Fordham scored four second-half goals to defeat seventh-seeded Duquesne 4-0 in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at Davidson, N.C.
Ohlendorf, who scored in the 64th, 74th and 80th minute, has scored five of his seven goals this season against the Dukes. Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year Janos Loebe scored the Rams’ second goal in the 74th minute.
Zach Hall had three shots on goal and Ryan Landry (Shaler) added two more for the Dukes. Duquesne held the Rams to one shot in a scoreless first half. DU’s best chance came in the ninth minute when Hall crossed it to Landry at the far post. Landry snapped a quick shot at Fordham keeper Rashid Nuhu who came up with the save. In the 40th minute Diego Vieira made a run and placed a ball through traffic to Bryan Fegley who shot it just wide. The second half was scoreless until Fordham worked the ball deep into the Duquesne zone. Evan Kozlowski stuck out a leg to stop an attempt from Cole Stevenson. Aleksander Christensson then swept at the ball trying to clear, but the ball snuck over to Ohlendorf near the far post, who put it away from close range. Kozlowski made an outstanding save of a point blank shot by Stevenson a few minutes later, before Loebe slipped behind the Dukes’ defense and got his right foot on the ball from 12 yards out for his seventh goal of the season. Ohlendorf added his second and third goals minutes later to put the game out of reach. Nuhu finished with six saves for Fordham.
The Dukes ended the season with a 8-5-5 overall record.

“We knew this would be a tough game going in. Fordham is a quality side. We had a game plan, and we came in and did well for about 65 minutes. One unfortunate break goes against us and from there we were left chasing the game,” said Chase Brooks,Duquesne Head Coach.
“Our returnees have to learn from moments like this and carry the torch going forward. We certainly appreciate all the hard work our senior class did in helping us to a successful season. We’ll have some big shoes to fill, but we look forward to moving on and preparing for next year.”
