#USSoccer Postpones Decision on D2/D3 Sanctioning #USL #NASL

It looks like it’s going to take some more time for U.S. Soccer’s Board of Directors to make some decisions about sanctioning/re-certification of men’s Division 2 and 3 leagues, as one league (current Division 2) NASL is reeling, while the other (current Division 3) USL is eagerly awaiting its application for Division 2 status.
After a three-man appointed committee met yesterday, then the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors met today in New York and apparently could not come to conclusion about the direction of what the Division 2 and 3 set-up will look like in 2017 and beyond.
Here’s U.S. Soccer’s statement issued late Tuesday afternoon.

We’ll have to stay tuned to see what happens.
There have been talks of continued negotiations going on as it still appears imminent that USL will obtain Division 2 status, but have not been able to finalize which NASL teams will be coming on board, and which will be not.

During the course of the day, there were continued reports that the NY Cosmos organization was ceasing operations.
But later in the afternoon, there were some reports saying that they’re not quite dead just yet…

But one very interesting development and announcement did come today.
NASL’s Carolina Railhawks became North Carolina FC — revealing a complete re-branding, along with aspirations to field both MLS and NWSL teams in the coming years.

What does this mean for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds?
Probably another two weeks of not knowing what the status of their league (USL) will be — and more delays are likely to finding out their final schedule.
Be sure to stay tuned in the next week or so there will be more announcements and developments.
