Looking For Rebound Season, Pitt_WSOC Announce 2017 Slate

Pitt Women’s soccer team will be looking to rebound in 2017, and today head coach Greg Miller announced the team’s fall slate Thursday afternoon.
 

“This will be an aggressive schedule for our group this year,” said Miller. “We’ll have a roster of youth and experience this year, so we wanted to put together games that would challenge us in the non-conference segment. We fell there is a good mix of conferences with several of these games on the road, so it will be a real test and invaluable experience for our ladies before heading into conference play.”

 
Pitt opens the year with a pair of exhibition contests, hosting Youngstown State on Aug. 8 and traveling to Ohio State on Aug. 12. The regular season will get underway the following weekend, as Pitt welcomes Hofstra to the Petersen Sports Complex on Aug. 18.
 
Three straight road contests will follow, as the Panthers first will head down Fifth Avenue to Rooney Field to take on Duquesne (Aug. 20) in the annual battle for local bragging rights.

The Panthers will also be in the Queen City — facing Cincinnati (Aug. 24) and Xavier (Aug. 27).
 
The Panthers return home Sept. 3 for an afternoon meeting with Illinois State, before closing out non-conference play on the road with Kent State (Sept. 7) and Nebraska (Sept. 10).
 
ACC action gets underway in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Sept. 15 as the Panthers visit Wake Forest. Pitt will return home for a Thursday night meeting with Virginia Tech (Sept. 21) before heading to Duke on Sept. 24.
 
Three-straight home games will follow as the Panthers face a tough stretch with national powerhouse Virginia (Oct. 1), Syracuse (Oct. 5) and NC State (Oct. 8). The next three outings will close out the home portion of the regular season, with Pitt visiting Louisville (Oct. 13), Miami (Oct. 19) and reigning ACC Champion Florida State (Oct. 22).
 
The season will come to a conclusion on Oct. 26 at the Petersen Sports Complex as Boston College visits.
 
The ACC Tournament will follow, with the quarterfinals set for Oct. 29 at the highest seeded teams. The semifinals and finals will take place in Cary, N.C. with semifinal action set for Nov. 3 and the finals to follow Nov. 5.
