Kerr earns #USL Player of the Week honors

Riverhounds midfielder Kevin Kerr has been named the USL Player of the Week following a dazzling performance this past Saturday against Bethlehem Steel FC at Highmark Stadium.
Reported by the League, Kerr received 33 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market.
Helping the Hounds to a 3-2 victory over Steel FC, their third straight to date, Kerr netted the go-ahead tally in 75th minute, as well as assisted on each of the club’s first two goals in the match. The multi-assist effort for Kerr was his first since May 3 of the 2015 season and he upped his career goal total in Black and Gold to 21 – tying him for seventh all-time in club history with Mike Apple.
A native of York, England, Kerr’s performance marked the second time this year a Hounds player has been named Player of the Week (Corey Hertzog – 3/28). He leads the club in assists with five, consistently producing a litany of opportunities for the Hounds by way of a league-leading 53 chances created this season.
In addition, midfielder Victor Souto was named to the Team of the Week Bench for his performance last weekend. Souto starred defensively tying for the team-lead with 10 possessions gained and two tackles, as well as leading the club with four interceptions.
Kerr and the Hounds (8-8-9) will look to continue their push for a playoff spot, traveling to FC Cincinnati (9-9-7) for a 4 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Nippert Stadium.
