Riverhounds outclassed by Louisville City, again, 3-0 #PGHvLOU

The Riverhounds five game unbeaten streak came to a crashing halt, as they were outclassed by USL league leading Louisville City FC for the third time this season, 3-0 (box score).

The Hounds could not take advantage of two early shots on target from Chevy Walsh, while Louisville City patiently waited for their chances, picking apart the Pittsburgh back line, with goals from Luke Spencer, Kyle Smith and former Robert Morris standout, Devon “Speedy” Williams.
Louisville City broke the scoreless tie in the 32nd minute, as Mark Anthony-Kaye played a ball in to Spencer in stride, who had a step on Hounds defender Tobi Adewole, who conceded too much space to the forward. Spencer broke past Adewole, then easily beat Hounds keeper Matt Perrella with low shot to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
“He’s a very strong player,” Williams chuckled of his teammate Spencer, who leads Lou City in goals scored, with nine tallies. “In our training sessions, no one ever gets the ball off him.”
In the 42nd minute, the Hounds Stephen Okai delivered an errant pass intended for Walsh. Louisville City quickly countered, getting a ball forward for Spencer who was breaking into the box with Adewole again marking him step-for-step. This time, Adewole was able to poke the ball away from Spencer. It appeared that Hounds defender Taylor Washington had a good chance to get to the ball, Louisville City’s Kyle Smith beat him to it, and accelerated into the right side of the box to deliver a low shot from a difficult angle that would beat Perrella.

The Hounds brought in Kay Banjo for Walsh at the start of the second half, and while it did create a decent early chance, as he played a nice ball wide to Corey Hertzog, who sent a cross from the left side that nearly connected with Romeo Parkes.
Louisville City would again take advantage of a Pittsburgh defensive lapse, as Spencer again beat both Jamal Jack and Adewole to a ball played on the right side, and slipped past both defenders and into the box. Jack came up from behind to foul Spencer, setting up a penalty kick.
Getting a chance to step up to take the penalty kick was the former Colonial and Jamaican national team player Williams, who went left, and Perrella guessed the other way.
