Despite a deeply disappointing 3-0 defeat to Louisville City FC on Saturday, the Riverhounds’ coach, Dave Brandt, remains steadfast in his approach, confident and believing in his players as they embark on a five-week dash to the finish line to claim an USL Eastern Conference playoff spot.
“It’s a function of us,” Brandt said Wednesday at Highmark Stadium, as the team took the day off from training. “On the other edge of the knife, it’s just a little bit of getting too complacent. And all that stuff goes away when you lose like we did. To me, at least, it’s a constant balancing act. The emotions, how you manage them. How I manage them myself. I don’t think it’s ever easy. I don’t think it’s just a matter of finding a group that clicks, roll out there, and I can fold my arms across my chest. That’s never the way it works.”
