from University of Pittsburgh athletic department report

The University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 4 Wake Forest Saturday night at Spry Stadium, marking the return of Jay Vidovich, Pitt’s coach, to the place where he coached for 20 years, including winning a National Championship.

After a scoreless first half, the Demon Deacons netted two goals in the second half to secure the victory.

With the loss, the Panthers drop to 2-4 on the year and 0-2 against ACC opponents, while Wake Forest improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Panthers held the fourth-ranked Demon Deacons scoreless through the first half but Wake Forest’s offense heated up in the second as they rattled off 14 total shots.

Wake Forest first struck in the 64th minute as Steven Echevarria put in a header off a corner kick.

The Demon Deacons added an insurance goal in the 85th minute off a set piece. Ema Twumasi found the back of the net after collecting a loose rebound.

In goal, redshirt sophomore Mikal Outcalt made a season-high 10 saves.
