Things have only gone from bad to worse for the Riverhounds coming down the stretch of what was once a promising season, with the latest fiasco coming against longtime league foes Rochester Rhinos, losing 2-0, at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night in yet another game plagued by a slow start.
Playing with a sense of urgency and a spot in the USL playoffs, the Rhinos didn’t waste any time getting the upper hand.
Jochem Graf scored only 26 seconds into the match, then Wal Fall added another goal in the 11th minute, clinching a playoff spot for the visitors, as they handed the lethargic Hounds a third straight loss.
“It’s not just bad, it’s unforgivable,” Dave Brandt, Riverhounds Head Coach, said after the match of falling behind early in a loss that drops his team’s record to 8-12-11. “I do think there’s something ‘hanging in the air’. I certainly felt the threat of that, but I did and said what I could. In the end, we have to step on the field, and play against a motivated Rochester team.”
