Hounds defender Adewole earns a spot on USL Team of Week

After recording his first career goal and the game-winner against Ottawa Fury FC this past weekend — Riverhounds SC defender Tobi Adewole has been named to USL Team of the Week.

Image result for Tobi Adewole RiverhoundsEntering the waning moments of the second half, Adewole found himself in the right place at the right time, directing a Kevin Kerr cross into the back of the net from the center of the box for the match’s one and only goal. The tally capped off a sterling performance for the second-year center back, who led the team with eight clearances, while also playing a full-90 minutes for a fourth consecutive match.

A native of Ashton, Maryland, Adewole’s sophomore campaign in total has gotten off to a fantastic start. He is one of only three Hounds to have played in every minute of every match this season, second to only Joe Greenspan (29) in clearances with 22 and is tied for the team lead in interceptions (8).

Adewole is the second Hound to be named to USL Team of the Week this season, following up Neco Brett, who was named Player of the Week after a hat trick against Toronto.

Unbeaten through four matches this season, Riverhounds SC hits the road for a visit to FC Cincinnati on Saturday, April 21. Set to kick off at 7 p.m., the match can be watched live on Pittsburgh’s CW, while fans 21 years-or-older are also encouraged to join us at Smokin’ Joe’s Saloon for the official watch party. Festivities start at 5 p.m., as your Hounds look to play spoiler to an Orange Out at Nippert Stadium.
