In what’s become a regular, weekly occurrence this season, a Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC player has been named to USL’s Team of the Week.
This week it’s Romeo Parkes‘ turn after notching his first goal of the season in a 2-2 draw at the Tampa Bay Rowdies this past Saturday.
Recording his first start up top since March 31 against Penn FC, Parkes paced the Hounds attack with three shots, including two on goal. His goal was the ninth of his career in Black and Gold, ranked fifth-most in club history during the current era of the USL (since 2011).
Parkes played a role in both scoring efforts for Pittsburgh at Al Lang Stadium. Before registering his aforementioned tally in the 30th minute, it was a hard shot by Parkes that forced a ricochet off the goalkeeper and an eventual own goal by Rowdies defender Max Lachowecki to even the score at one 20 minutes into the match.
The score also marked the first time the Rowdies had conceded in their home stadium this year, as they previously shut out opponents in their first three home games.
The weekly honor marks the seventh straight week a Hounds player has been named to USL Team of the Week.
