Skills challenge adds to full day of soccer festivities at Highmark Stadium on June 16

The International Champions Cup match that will be played at Heinz Field between Borussia Dortmund and Benfica won’t take place until , but game organizers are already bringing festivities to the Pittsburgh area to celebrate this match.

Event organizers will be hosting a Skills Challenge as a free event, coming to Pittsburgh at Highmark Stadium on June 16th!

Participants will engage in four challenges, receiving points based upon their performance in dribbling, shooting, juggling and passing.

The challenge will be hosted in 12 cities around the US with one taking place on June 16th at Highmark Stadium from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Comprised of 4 different challenges (passing, dribbling, juggling and shooting) and 3 different gender specific age groups (U12, U16 and Open), the winners from each division will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the International Champions Cup match between Borussia Dortmund and Benfica at Heinz Field on Wednesday, July 25th where they will receive an award and be honored on the pitch during halftime.

Top participants will be awarded in each of the three age groups (U12, U16 and Open age) in male and female divisions.

Winners will receive two match tickets to the International Champions Cup match between Borussia Dortmund and Benfica on July 25 and will be awarded their trophy during halftime!

It will be a busy day at Highmark Stadium on June 16, as it will also be WQED for Neighborhood Night when the Riverhounds SC return to action against NY Red Bulls II (kickoff set for 7 p.m.)!

Among the festivities around WQED night include:

  • Fans are encouraged to dress like Mister Rodgers’ for their chance to win a WQED/Riverhounds prize package.
  • A special PBS character mask giveaway for the first 1000 fans
  • Mister Rodgers’ theme song sing-a-long during halftime
  • A twelve foot Inflatable Daniel Tiger by our West Gate
  • A special appearance by author Rick Sebak
  • Bourbon sampling provided by Buffalo Trace (must be 21 and older)
  • Gates open at 5:30 p.m. — with $1 Beers until Kickoff
  • And other fun activities presented by AHN for kids and dadsGates
