QUEST FOR 1st: Hounds keep pace, FCC wins again

USL’s week 22 is in the books.

The top four teams all won between Friday’s wild Louisville City 6-4 win over NY Red Bulls II and Sunday’s Riverhounds and FC Cincinnati pulling out late goals to stay on pace.

USL’s MOST UPDATED STANDINGS

The Hounds beat Bethlehem Steel FC, 2-1, thanks to two more goals from Neco Brett.

Hounds rally for 2-1 win at Bethlehem

FCC needed a late tally to down Penn FC, 1-0 to pull forward to 48 points. Charleston won again too to stay right on pace with the Hounds at 43 points. Louisville City’s win pushed them up to 39 points, leaving the Red Bulls II behind in fifth place at 35 points.

The good news for the Riverhounds is that they still have a game at hand against FC Cincinnati, and two games at hand against Charleston. The Hounds will face FCC on September 1 in Cincinnati, then October 6 at Highmark Stadium. The Hounds and Charleston have already played both scheduled regular season meetings this season.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

  • Pittsburgh will host Charlotte on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
  • Cincinnati host a showdown with Charleston on Saturday.
  • Louisville will face a stiff challenge from sixth place Nashville SC (34 points) on Saturday as well.
  • NY Red Bulls II don’t play again until they host North Carolina on August 21.
