Murphy earns fourth shutout of season as Dukes blank St. Francis, 2-0

From Duquesne University report

Abby Losco scored in the 30th minute and Alex Saturni added an insurance goal in the 64th minute to give Duquesne a 2-0 victory over Saint Francis U on Friday night. The Dukes defense did not surrender a shot as Kyra Murphy recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Losco found her way into the box and fired a shot from 5 yards out that was saved by Saint Francis keeper Julia Hernan, but Losco collected the rebound to slide the ball into the lower right corner
  • Saturni picked the pocket of a SFU player and fired the ball into the upper right corner from 35 yards away
  • The Dukes outshot the Red Flash 15-0
  • Murphy recorded her 24th career shutout
  • Duquesne has not surrendered a goal at home this season and has held opponents scoreless for the last 517 minutes on the home pitch

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH AL ALVINE

“I’m happy with the team’s performance tonight. We dominated the game from start-to-finish. We allowed very little in the way of chances and scoring opportunities, although I would prefer to see us a little more clinical in front the net. This shutout is solid momentum leading into Atlantic 10 play.”
