Box Score/Game Stats

Pitt men’s soccer team has played a tough schedule for most of the early portion of the season. For the most part they kept coming up just short against top-tier teams, losing a host of 1-0 decisions to nationally ranked opponents Akron, North Carolina and Louisville.

On Tuesday, the Panthers turned the tables to pick up an important signature victory by holding serve at home in beating 18th ranked NC State, 3-1, to earn its first ACC win of the season.

After trailing early in the match, the Panthers responded.

Freshman Jackson Walti scored with a one-time shot off a deflection in the 20th minute, then 11 minutes later, Alexander Dexter found Marcony Pimentel to give the Panthers the lead.

Edward Kizza scored in the second half to provide the cushion that was needed.  It was Kizza’s team leading sixth goal of the season.
