As a part of Pitt Retro Weekend, the men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and football team’s will all be wearing their retro alternate jerseys during their games this weekend.

LAST TIME OUT

· Pitt earned a 1-0 victory over Columbia Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

· Following a lightning delay in the second half that lasted close to an hour, sophomore Jose Luis Sena Arbona headed in his first goal of the season off of a corner from senior Javi Perez to give the Panthers the win.

· Perez, senior Joshua Gaspari and sophomores Alexander Dexter and Edward Kizza each collected two shots on the night, with Perez adding an assist. Sena Arbona, senior Tom Moxham and freshman Nyk Sessock also recorded one shot apiece, with Sena Arbona collecting his first goal for the Panthers.

SURVEYING THE STATS

· Seven different Panthers have scored a goal so far this season in Kizza, Perez, Sena Arbona, redshirt senior Robby Dambrot, sophomore Marcony Pimentel, redshirt freshman Fiorre Mane and freshman Jackson Walti.

· Kizza leads the team with six scores, followed by Perez and Pimentel with two. Dambrot, Mane, Sena Arbona and Walti have each netted one goal apiece.

· Pitt has also seen eight players record assists on the season.

· Dexter leads the squad with three assists, followed by Pimentel with two. Dambrot, Perez, Sena Arbona, Sessock and freshmen Alec Townsend and Chandler Vaughn have all added one helper each.

SIZING UP THE 2018 SLATE

· Pitt faces some tough competition in the 2018 season, with a schedule that includes 12 NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago.

· In 10 matches, the Panthers have already faced six ranked opponents this season in then-ranked No. 25 Colgate, No. 4 Akron, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Louisville, No. 12 NC State and No. 11 Virginia.

· Of Pitt’s remaining seven matches, three teams are currently ranked in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

THE SERIES – CLEMSON

· The Panthers and Tigers have met three times in program history, with Clemson owning a 3-0-0 all-time edge against Pitt.

· Most recently, then-ranked No. 8 Clemson took a 3-0 win over Pitt Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 in Clemson, S.C.

· Head coach Jay Vidovich owns a 13-8-6 all-time record against the Tigers during his time at both Wake Forest and Pitt.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

· Clemson enters Friday’s match with a 5-4-1 [0-3-0 ACC] record, most recently earning a 3-1 win against College of Charleston Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Clemson, S.C.

· The Tigers are led by head coach Mike Noonan, who is in his ninth season with the program. Noonan has compiled a 90-57-28 (.594) record at Clemson and a 314-173-69 (.627) career record during more than 29 years as a head coach.

· Through 10 games, Adrian Nunez leads the team with five goals, followed by Tanner Dieterich with two scores. Seven other players have also added one goal apiece for the Tigers.

· In goal, Jonny Sutherland has started eight matches for Clemson, posting three shutouts while collecting 20 saves and allowing 11 goals.
