WPIAL boys soccer scoreboard (Oct 15)

With only a few days left in the regular season, there were more boys games played than usual on a Monday night.

The match with the most on the line had the defending two-time Class 4A champions playing for their playoff lives against Butler.

In a match that was looked at as a ‘winner-take-all’ — after 80 minutes then two extra time periods — they finished deadlocked at 1-1 apiece.

In a twist of irony, the draw clinched a playoff spot for both teams, as Butler (8-4-2 in section) finishes in third place, while North Allegheny and Fox Chapel (both 8-5-1) end the season tied for fourth place. In WPIAL, if teams are tied for a playoff spot in which head-to-head does not break the tie, all qualify for the postseason. Fox Chapel and North Allegheny split a pair of 1-0 contests this season.

Here’s some Tweets of the Night and the full scoreboard below.
