RICHMOND, Ind. — Point Park University women’s soccer came out with a 1-0 victory at IU East on Thursday night. It was the final River States Conference game of the year for the Pioneers (10-7, 7-2 RSC), who have a conference-high seven RSC victories.

Courtney Clark scored in the 58th minute to break the scoreless tie and provide what would be the only goal of the game. Clark, a sophomore, got the big goal in her first game played of the year. The goal came off a corner kick, and Asia Pennock-Franke recorded the assist. Point Park held on for the shutout despite being slightly out-shot, 24-19.

The victory put the Pioneers at the 10-win mark, and they reached double-digit wins for the fifth time in the last seven years under head coach Maggie Kuhn. Point Park has one more game in the regular season, a non-conference matchup at home versus Washington Adventist next Wednesday, Oct. 31 (7:30 p.m.).

The Pioneers are in the clubhouse with their conference schedule complete. Most of the remaining conference games will be completed on Saturday, and a make-up game Oct. 31 between Asbury and IU East will finish the conference season.

Point Park and Carlow (6-1-1 RSC) are currently on top of the standings with Asbury (5-2 RSC) losing to Rio Grande on Thursday. The top six teams make the playoffs with the top two teams getting byes in the first round Nov. 3. The No. 3 and 4 seeds host in the first round.

Point Park had 12 of its shots on goal, and IU East had 11 shots on goal. Pioneers goalkeeper Ashtyn Webb came up with 11 saves for the shutout. IU East had the pressure on Point Park in the first half with a 12-7 advantage in shots and an 8-3 margin in corner kicks. The Pioneers held that off and also withstood 12 more shots by the Red Wolves the second half. Point Park had 12 of its shots the second half.
