Hounds to return to Pittsburgh’s CW in 2019

From Riverhounds SC report

Riverhounds SC has announced a partnership with Pittsburgh’s CW (WPCW) to broadcast select games throughout the 2019 season.

On the heels of one of the most successful seasons in team history, the CW-affiliate plans to air a total of 15 games, including 14 road match-ups plus the team’s Fourth of July home game, with the possibility of broadcasting up to three additional home matches. These additional home games would be announced at a later date.

“KDKA is committed to all Pittsburgh area sports, from high school to professional, and adding the Riverhound soccer games to free, over-the-air TV is going to give black and gold fans more to cheer about,” Vice President and General Manager Jay Howell said of the partnership.

Televised games include the season opener at the Tampa Bay Rowdies on March 16 and a road showdown with two-time reigning champion Louisville City FC on April 6, in addition to the club’s July 4 clash with in-state rival Bethlehem Steel FC.

In addition, Nightly Sports Call with Bob Pompeani and Rich Walsh on Pittsburgh’s CW, the city’s only live broadcast television sports call-in show, will air weekly Hounds segments.

For out-of-market fans, they can catch live Riverhounds SC games on ESPN+ with a paid subscription.

Last week, USL Championship announced its Game of the Week schedule over the course of 22-weeks across three of ESPN’s broadcast networks (ESPN2, ESPN News and ESPN 3). Despite a successful 2018 campaign, and seemingly one of the favorites to be near the top of the standings against in 2019, the Hounds were not included in the National ‘Game of the Week’ schedule.
