Riverhounds SC match at Memphis rescheduled for Sept. 24

The abandoned May 18 match between Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Memphis 901 FC has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee.

This match, which was halted after 45 minutes of action due to inclement weather, will be replayed in its entirety.

New abandoned match rules worked against Hounds on Saturday in Memphis

This rescheduling scenario works out for the Hounds’ travel plans, as just prior to this Sept. 24 date, Pittsburgh has an away match against Nashville SC on Saturday, Sept. 21 at First Tennessee Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Hounds, coming off a scoreless draw vs Charlotte Independence on Saturday, are currently in the midst of a two-game week, first playing Indy Eleven in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Highmark Stadium before traveling to Indianapolis to play Indy, once again, in league play at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
