Post match reaction: Intense affair ends in scoreless draw for 10-man Hounds

Riverhounds SC (14-4-10) tied Nashville SC (16-7-7), 0-0, on Saturday at First Tennessee Park.

FINAL: Riverhounds SC 0, Nashville SC 0

The big story of course was that the Hounds played the final 50 minutes of the match down a man due to a red card issued to Tobi Adewole in the 40th minute, the Hounds held strong.

Goalkeeper Kyle Morton led the way to the shutout and road point, collecting four saves throughout the match.

“I think the response was great,” head coach Bob Lilley said. “We competed well in the second half. Nashville has a lot of experienced guys and they were patient and made us do a lot of running.

“I thought we played with a lot of heart and a lot of effort and made a lot of good plays. They asked a lot of us and we had the ability to compete well and come out with a draw, which is important to us.”

NASHVILLE SC REACTION 

“The game was exactly as I thought it would be in the opening 40 minutes. They were very, very difficult to try and penetrate. As always, a sense of building pressure, controlling the game, trying to get ourselves in a particular groove,” Gary Smith, Nashville Head Coach said.

Smith would add on the Adewole booking.

“Once the center back (Adewole) got sent off, it completely changes the dynamic of the game. I mean, from where I was sitting, it looked 100% a sending-off. I can only give you my opinion on that,” Smith added.

“I honestly felt as though we had enough moments to win the game. There weren’t loads, but enough clear cut opportunities to have converted, which I’m sure would have been enough.”
