WPIAL girls soccer scoreboard (9/30/19)

Welcome to the WPIAL girls soccer scoreboard for Monday, September 30.

We’re now getting into the nitty-gritty part of the schedule, where teams battling to clinch playoff spots and stay alive in the races will be putting it all on the line in every match.

There were two very high scoring affairs tonight.

The first comes from Girls Class 4A, Section 3, where Norwin survived a wild, 11-goal barrage, beating Connellsville, 6-5. Ed Rosensteel reported that Norwin was playing without a couple key players, Anna Durmis and Eva Frankovic, who left the match and didn’t return.

It was an overtime thriller, the Lady Knights had goals from Emily Shaw (2), Lacey Bernick, Katelyn Kauffman, and Dani Iannuzzo.

Then in the second overtime Iannuzzo scored her second of the game off of a Morgan Sigut free kick to beat the Lady Falcons.

Meanwhile, South Park outlasted Brownsville by an 8-7 score in a match that took the cake for the highest scoring contest of the night — and probably for the WPIAL season.

Lady Hawks over Mt. Lebo 4-3 in overtime! Game winning goal by Lily Gaston, her 2nd of the match, finishing a pretty play set up by Olivia Schram and Megan Mathias! Schram and Teagan Mehalko scored the other 2 goals for the Hawks.
Next match is Wed night at Upper St. Clair.
