Race to First: Nashville SC move to within one point of Hounds

If this is any indication of what’s possibly in store in the final few weeks of the USL Championship’s regular season, it looks like the race for the top spot may come all the way down to the final match on the final day of the season.

On Tuesday, Nashville SC earned a big three points by beating defending USL Champions Louisville City FC, who were playing on just two days rest.

A 92nd-minute header from Nashville SC defender Jimmy Ockord gave his side a dramatic 2-1 victory over Louisville City FC on Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville moved to within one point of first-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the Eastern Conference standings.

Right now, Nashville and Pittsburgh have the inside track for a top-two finishes with two games remaining.
