Here’s the WPIAL boys soccer scoreboard for Tuesday, October 8, with a full schedule of section matches that included some clinching section titles, some clinching playoff berths — and others staying right in the playoff race.

Where do we start?

Clinching Section titles

Seneca Valley, the defending WPIAL Class 4A champs, earned its second consecutive Section 1 title on Tuesday, with its 2-0 win vs Allderdice.

Mars continues its dominance in 3A, Section 2, by beating long-time rivals, Hampton, 2-1 to officially clinch another section title.

Congratulations to Riverside (11-3) on clinching Class 1A, Section 1 title.

Mt. Lebanon and Plum remain unbeaten in Class 4A 

The Blue Devils outlasted Canon-Mac, 4-3, as Liam Donald scored the go-ahead goal with just a minute to play.  Section 3 leading Plum remain without a loss as well, beating Hempfield, 3-0.

How about Woody High!

With a 4-4 tie (2OT) against Greater Latrobe, Varsity Boys Soccer clinched the first WPIAL soccer playoff berth in Woodland Hills school history. Woodland Hills entered the game with a two game lead over Greater Latrobe, who needed a victory over the Wolverines to preserve their hopes of a playoff bid.

Ironmen make a statement

We’re looking forward to sharing a feature about Steel Valley’s boys program later this week, and tonight the playoff-bound Ironmen beat one of the teams ahead of them in Class 2A, Section 1, Elizabeth Forward, 2-1.

With Steel Valley beating Elizabeth Forward, and Keystone Oaks being idle, South Park stayed in control of first place in Class 2A, Section 1, though with a big win. This sets up final matches on Thursday between South Park-Elizabeth Forward, and Keystone Oaks and Steel Valley that will determine the order these teams will finish in one of the most competitive sections this season.
