HOW IT HAPPENED

Steel Valley welcomed Brownsville into the game early with a cross from the right side of the field into the box and Diana Craycroft  floats a shot to the far corner and into the net for a 1-0 lead just 28 seconds into the game.

Brownsville showed no panic or concern as the game plan was very simple, get the ball to sophomore UNC commit Tessa Dellarose. Dellarose used everything in the first half, speed, technical skill and and strength to get the ball and attack Steel Valley’s defensive half. Steel Valley when they could catch her would get two to three players around her to defend her. The first opportunity came when Dellarose beat two defenders and crossed a ball into the 18 that just misses the head of Malaree Duggan.

Dellarose would strike 17’ minutes in as the ball took a tough bounce on the goal keeper and Dellarose would find the ball and squeeze it into the net from a tough angle to make it 1-1.

Dellarose was creating more opportunities for her teammates than shots on goals. Taking the defenders wide and letting her teammates fill the box for the opportunities.

Brownsville would take the 2-1 lead on a goal from Dellarose when she ran on a long ball over the back 4. Dellarose held her line until the ball cleared them and she pounced on it, went in alone on goal when her first shot was denied but the rebound would find the back of the net.

Freshman Kelsey Salopek of Steel Valley would blast a pair of shots at the Brownsville goal. One just dipping over the bar and the second blasted on frame at keeper Franks for the save.

Talla Dellarose then found herself charging in on a shot and strikes a ball from just inside 40 yards off the inside left post for the third goal and Brownsville 3-1 lead.

Steel Valley would get back within one goal when Krystal Phouthavong got behind the right  side and slipped a ball past Franks into the left corner to make the game 3-2 Brownsville.

The game would get intense as the clock counted down but would finish up 3-2 final in favor of Brownsville.
