Pitt ends regular season with 1-0 loss at Notre Dame; will host ACC quarterfinal on Nov. 10

On Friday, Pitt men’s soccer team lost to Notre Dame, 1-0 on the road.

By the end of the night, all wasn’t lost.

The Panthers earned an unprecedented No. 4 seed in the upcoming ACC tournament, as they’ll host the winner of Duke vs. NC State in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship.

The Panthers will play Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

The Atlantic Coast Conference released the bracket for the tournament Friday night and can be viewed here. Tickets are now on sale and available for purchase.

This is a first for the Panthers as they have never hosted a round of the ACC Championship, earned a No. 4 seed and received a first round bye.

In the match on Friday, Notre Dame netted the lone goal of the match in the 17^th minute. Pitt was in control the majority of the game, registering 15 shots to Notre Dame’s five. However, the Irish finished with three shots on goal, while the Panthers only had two. Pitt also drew nine corners, while Notre Dame only had one.

Pitt will learn its opponent Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the conclusion of No. 5 NC State vs. No. 12 Duke in the first round.

Every match in the tournament will be televised. The first round, quarterfinals and semifinals all will be broadcast on ACC Network.
