Amanda West became the first Pitt women’s soccer player to receive All-ACC honors when she was named to the third and all-freshmen teams, the league announced Thursday. West broke the school’s single-season points record this year with 29 and also tied for most goals (10) and assists (nine).

West was one of the top scorers in the conference this year, ranking tied for third in assists, fifth in points and tied for fifth in goals. She also tied for third in game-winning goals (four).

With points in each of her first six games, West began the season on a tear. She recorded the best debut in program history with a hat-trick and assist, including the game-winner in the 84th minute, as Pitt beat Loyola Marymount 5-4 on Aug. 23. Her seven points are the most in a game by a Pitt player since 2001 and most in Ambrose Urbanic Field history by a Panther. With the performance, she earned the second ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor in school history.

West’s play did not drop during ACC action, as she lead the league in assists (six) and tied for second in points (12) in conference games only. She scored arguably Pitt’s biggest goal in ACC play, heading in a ball in the 94th minute for a golden goal against Boston College on Sept. 10. The goal snapped the team’s three-year ACC winless streak. She assisted on all three goals at Miami on Sept. 29, helping Pitt rally from a late second-half two-goal deficit for a tie. At Wake Forest on Oct. 24, she notched her second multi-goal game with a pair in the second half that sent the game into overtime.
