There were no hiccups this year for Quaker Valley boys soccer.

They took care of business in the regular season.

Avenged WPIAL and PIAA playoff losses from the previous two seasons by beating both Shady Side Academy and Deer Lakes in the postseason this year when it counted most. Then the Quakers squad, with a handful of determined seniors, cruised through the state playoffs — capping an impressive season by winning semifinal and finals games played in less than 48 hours.

On Friday, in Hershey the Quakers finished the deal, breaking a scoreless tie at the half as Dom Reiter scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute.  The University of Pittsburgh recruit kept pressing hard and trying to get behind the New Hope back line all match, and finally broke through to bury one in the upper 90.

It was  55th goal of the season.

In the 70th minute — it was time for Dom’s brother — Fritz Reiter to blow by the Lions’ defense — with plenty of room to shoot — putting Quaker Valley up 2-0.

New Hope-Solebury made things interesting late, as Ben Koeppen’s goal cut the lead.  The Quakers, though, held on in the final six minutes.

This title is the eighth in Quaker Valley’s storied program history, in its13th appearance in the final, the most of any boys program in the state. The Quakers finished 24-2-1 overall.
