All-State boys soccer honorees include 14 WPIAL players and QV’s Andrew Marshall as Coach of the Year

Last week, Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association released its All-State boys teams along with its coaching postseason honors for 2019.

Among those chosen included, as is the case when it comes to these post-season awards, it appears more forwards (26) and midfielders (29) while there was just nine defenders and one goalkeeper pverall.

From the WPIAL, included forwards: Fletcher Amos (West Allegheny), Anthony DiFalco (Franklin Regional), Joseph Fonagy (Canon-McMillan), Zane Ingram (Fox Chapel), Joseph Kearney (North Catholic), Justin Kopay (Moon), Luke Peperak (Connellsville), Dominic Reiter (Quaker Valley), Luke Rupert (Seneca Valley) and Cullin Woytovich (Charleroi); Midfielders: Nick Apodiakos (Belle Vernon), Connor Hudson (Franklin Regional) and Austin Rocke (Mars); Defenders: Chad Eldridge (South Fayette).

There were just two sophomores included in the list, including Franklin Regional’s DiFalco.

In addition, Quaker Valley’s Andrew Marshall, was the lone WPIAL coach to earn All-State coaching honors — as the 2A Boys Coach of the Year. Marshall led Quaker Valley to its ninth WPIAL and either PIAA titles, respectively, this season. For Marshall, it was his second PIAA and WPIAL titles won in his five years at the helm at QV.
