Pitt women’s soccer has added transfer Hailey Davidson for the 2020 season, head coach Randy Waldrum announced Friday. A two-year starting defender at Oklahoma, Davidson is enrolled for the upcoming spring semester and has two seasons of eligibility as a Panther.

“Hailey is the definition of a competitor,” said Pitt assistant coach Ben Waldrum. “She has a passion for the game and puts the extra time into making her game better. Our fans will really enjoy watching her play as she is dynamic, creative, and a real threat in the attack as an outside back or forward. Having a player of her caliber recognize the direction and ambition of our program, and choosing to be a part of it, is huge.”

The native of Prosper, Texas started in 23 games the last two years for Oklahoma, including 13 as a true freshman. She finished the 2018 season with four goals and an assist and placed eight of 17 shots on goal. She recorded an assist on a on the game-winning goal at Arkansas as part of two points this past year.

“I chose the University of Pittsburgh to play under coach Randy and Ben Waldrum, two of the best you can find,” said Davidson. “I’m excited for this opportunity to play for Pitt and compete to win championships in one of the best conferences in the nation. I’m thrilled to be able to begin this next chapter of my college career with this team!”

Davidson was a captain for FC Dallas Development Academy from 2017-18 under Ben Waldrum and Matt Grubb. She helped FC Dallas win the ECNL National Championship in 2017 and two Texas Conference Championships.

“Hailey comes in with high level college playing experience and from one of the countries’ top youth development programs in FC Dallas, where they continually competed for youth national championships,” said Waldrum. “She was a teammate of current Panther Athalie Palomo and incoming 2020 defender Zaria Stevenson. Hailey and the other incoming players for the 2020 class certainly make us better.”

Davidson joins the recruiting class of Nyla Allen, Ione Fetsko, Eva Frankovic, Hannah Kynch, Chloe Minas, Chantelle Parker, Emily Yaple and Stevenson as newcomers for next year.
