Pitt women’s soccer busy spring slate includes nine matches

Pittsburgh women’s soccer team has announced their spring schedule — as it will be a nine-match slate with the Panthers playing six of nine at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

Six of the nine matches will also be featured as part of same day double headers.

The spring season begins on March 1 when the Panthers head to reigning Big Ten Champions Penn State for a 2 p.m. contest. Then, Pitt has three weeks off before taking on host St. Francis and Bucknell in its second and last trip of the spring on March 22.  The Panthers play the Red Flash first at 11 a.m. then the Bison afterwards.

The Panthers begin their six-game home stand March 28 with a doubleheader against IUP and Loyola (Md) on March 28, starting at 11 a.m.  Two days later at 9 p.m., Pitt faces an unfamiliar team, Canada REX. The squad is out of Ontario, part of the country’s national program that identifies young players for the national team.

The next week Pitt has another doubleheader with Nikki Izzo-Brown’s West Virginia squad, a perennial top 25 program. WVU raached the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2019, They will also face Ashland as part of the final double header of the spring which begins at 2 p.m. on April 5.

The season ends with Robert Morris on April 14 at 8:30 p.m.
