Riverhounds SC defender Ryan James has been named USL Championship Player of the Week after his two-goal performance in the club’s 3-0 victory against Hartford Athletic this past Friday at Dillon Stadium.
With help from James’ performance, the Hounds moved ahead of Hartford by three points in the Group F standings. Pittsburgh currently leads the group with 19 points.
James scored his first goal from the center of the penalty box in the 11th minute before following it up with a left-footed volley for his second tally in the 50th minute. The second of his goals was listed No. 10 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays. This marked the first multi-goal game of his career.
This season, the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada native has already amassed a career-high three goals. He has started nine of his 10 games played en route to 819 minutes, which is the fourth-highest minute total on the team.
In addition, defender Jordan Dover has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench after recording an assist in the aforementioned victory against Hartford. The Ajax, Ontario, Canada native assisted James on his second tally in the 50th minute.
