WPIAL Boys Soccer Player of the Week: Rutger Randall (Keystone Oaks)

We are proud to share our first Pittsburgh Soccer Now Player of the Week honoree for the 2020 WPIAL Boys Soccer season along with numerous honorable mentions below.

Pittsburgh Soccer Now‘s WPIAL Boys Player of the Week

(week 1 – Sept. 14-19) 

Rutger Randall

Keystone Oaks – Senior – Forward

Rutger scored seven goals and added an assist in leading Keystone Oaks to a perfect 3-0 start in Class 2A, Section 1.

Last year, Randall was selected as the WPIAL section 1 AA Player of the Year. He has committed to Pitt-Greensburg.

Honorable Mentions for Week 1:

Nate Lazzara (Fox Chapel, Senior) Fox Chapel’s go-to scorer tallied 4 goals and an assist including a hat trick vs Shaler on 9/14. The Foxes started off the week with 2-1 record in Class 4A, Section 1.

Luke Kolankowski (Plum, Junior) With 3 goals and 4 assists, Kolankowski also had a game winner in 2 games leading Plum to a 2-0 record to start the season in Class 3A, Section 4.

Mike Sullivan (Deer Lakes, Senior) – the senior midfielder had 3 goals and an assist in leading the charge for Deer Lakes as they start off the season 2-0 in Class 2A, Section 2.

Chad Eldridge (South Fayette, Senior) – Chad scored the game tying goal vs Montour and had a goal and assist vs Blackhawk to lead the Lions to a 2-0-1 vs top ranked opponents (BH, Moon, Montour).

Daniel Sassack (Belle Vernon, Junior) – the junior attacking center midfielder netted 3 goals and 2 assists last week including a game-winning goal and a game-winning assist as Belle Vernon surged to the top of Class 3A, Section 3 with a perfect 4-0 record, winning four games in six days!

T.J. Braun (Trinity Christian, Freshman) TJ had 4 goals and 5 assists in two games last week. Two of those goals came with his team trailing 1-0 with less than ten minutes to play to secure a 2-1 win at St. Joseph’s.

Tyler Wellman (Steel Valley, Junior) Tyler had 6 goals and 4 assists to lead the Ironmen to a successful opening week in a very competitive Class 2A, Section 1.  One of those assists led to the the golden goal in Steel Valley’s OT win vs Avonworth. Also drew a penalty in the box.

Pittsburgh Soccer Now’s Player of the Week nominations are accepted from WPIAL coaches every week no later than each Monday evening.
