Pitt remains number one

Although they haven’t played a match since beating Louisville 4-1 on October 23, the University of Pittsburgh’s men’s soccer team remains the top team in the latest NCAA Division I United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday.

Last week, it was announced that Pitt would be shutting down for the remainder of the regular season, postponing their final two matches against Syracuse and Notre Dame at home.

Covid cuts short Pitt Men’s Soccer regular season

Here’s how the top-five teams line-up in the latest poll.

Rank School Prev W-L-T
1 University Of Pittsburgh 1 5-0-0
2 Wake Forest University 2 6-1-0
3 University Of Kentucky 4 5-1-0
4 University Of North Carolina 5 2-1-2
5 Clemson University 3 5-2-1

The Panthers still have meaningful soccer left to play in 2020.

The ACC Men’s Soccer Championship begins on November 15, and as long as they are able, they will begin the tournament with a quarterfinal match. The opponent and location are yet to be determined. The ACC tournament will be the last opportunity for soccer this year; the NCAA College Cup was canceled months ago out of an abundance of caution.
